Teach us to Number our Days

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
If we really know how short time we have, we would have applied our knowledge and wisely redeem the time.
Show me, LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. Psalm 39:4
We don't have extra time to waste. The best we can is to use our time 100%. So our cry of the heart is to know for how long we live on earth. The bible clearly teaches us that our life on earth is short.
They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow. Psalm 144:4
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:14 But God doesn't show us exactly how long except he shows us it is generally short.
The only thing we need to know is we have today only. As long as we use today as effective as possible, we will be successful for the rest of our lives. As long as we are successful in today, we are successful in our days of our lives.
Sometimes we think that tomorrow will bring some better opportunity to live for God than today. And we tend to relax unnecessarily. But you don't really know what tomorrow brings with it. It may bring more challenges than we expect.
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. James 4:14
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Proverbs 27:1
The bible definitely teaches that our life on earth is short. We don't have a lot of time to relax in vain. We don't have a lot of time to waste and an extra time to spend.
The other times, we want to import the future to execute it today. The bible teaches us that God divided our time and challenges evenly. It will not be a wise time management to bring tomorrow's challenges to solve them today. It is unnecessarily trying to control life. You definitely plan for tomorrow but you don't execute tomorrow's assignment today.
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16
